Air Purification
Beware of Indoor Air Hazards
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), 9 out of 10 people are breathing air containing excessive levels of pollutants, one of the leading causes of disease and premature death. Air containing respiratory threats pose an even higher risk as they continue to live and recirculate through ventilation systems and indoor spaces.
The solutions that people buy to deal with indoor air, such as air filters, neither kill air pollutants nor revitalize bad air. Air filters are inefficient, ineffective, and have to be replaced on a regular basis.
Freshlight's Innovative Solution
Instead of moving all the air in a room into a small box and processing it through a filter, Freshlight creates products that proactively seek out respirable fine dust to immediately remove it from the air. These products have no maintenance and cost much less to own and operate.
The technology utilized inside these products is called negative ionization, also known as the way nature cleans the air!
What is Negative Ionization?
Negative ionization is a naturally occurring phenomenon where nature produces a HUGE amount of negative ions to remove positive ions.
Whether it is a powerful thunder, lightning, and rainstorm, the ocean surf, waterfalls or running rivers, the fresh air and the feeling absorbed in one’s body is scintillating.
Freshlight’s uniqueness is proven in our technology to replicate these same feelings and powerful air cleaning qualities found in nature.
Why Positive Ions are Bad
Respirable fine dust is hazardous airborne particles that are also positive ions.
Add to that all the positive ion producing electrical equipment, like televisions, air conditioning, clothes dryers, and even carpet and upholstery, and our homes have become what has been described as ‘positive ion prisons’.
These positive ions are a threat to our health until they come in contact with negative ions.
Why Negative Ions are Good
Negative ions are oxygen atoms charged with an extra electron. In high enough concentrations, ions purify the surrounding air of respirable fine dust.
They do this by attaching to these positive-charged particles in large numbers. This causes the dust particles to become too heavy to stay airborne.
At this point they drop to the floor or attach to a nearby surface, clearing the air of their presence.
You Need Negative Ionization
Our homes and workplaces are usually sealed off from the natural benefits of negative-charged ions.
Even if you do keep your windows open, living in a busy town or city has only a tenth of the concentration of ions in the air compared to that found in country environments.
Rid your indoor environments of positive ions (pollutants) by getting the proper amount of negative ionization into your home and workplace today.

12 Benefits of Negative Ionization
Negative ionization has been around for a hundred years and one can easily discover (via a Google search) its numerous benefits. Below are 12 benefits that stood out to us in our research.
- Negative ions increase your sense of well-being and mental clarity by counteracting debilitating positive ions in your environment.
- Negative ionization products are proven to clear the air of potential allergens.
- High concentrations of negative-charged ions can significantly decrease airborne threats within your home.
- Exposure to ions improves the function of the cilia in your respiratory tract that protect your lungs from irritation and inflammation, thus leading to less respiratory problems.
- Negative ions have a relaxing effect and have been reported to normalize breathing rate and relieve tension. Because ions are absorbed directly into the bloodstream, they may help to combat harmful free radicals within your body.
- Studies demonstrated that high levels of negative-charged ions can be an effective treatment for Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
- Improved energy levels and focus. Research at the University of California showed negative ion exposure normalized serotonin levels in the brain, potentially improving a person’s positive outlook and mood.
- Better sleep. A French study found using negative ion technology could help you to sleep better. This is once again due to their positive effects on neurotransmitters.
- Reduces instances of headaches and sickness. The company Norwich Union found installing negative ion air cleaners in a work area full of computers and other electronic equipment reduced instances of reported sickness and headaches by 78%. Ion generators are also routinely used in hospitals in Europe for their beneficial impact on patient’s healing rates.
- Elevated mental concentration and performance. Testing has shown that subjects exposed to high levels of negative ions performed better in mentally challenging tasks than those breathing normal positive ion dense air. Pierce J. Howard PhD at the Center for Applied Cognitive Sciences says in the Owner’s Manual for the Brain – “Negative ions increase the flow of oxygen to the brain; resulting in higher alertness, decreased drowsiness, and more mental energy.”
- Research showed negative ion exposure improved physical performance as well. A study entitled ‘An investigation of the effects of negative air ions on responses to submaximal exercise at different times of day’ showed that: “negative air ions significantly reduced resting values of all physiological variables” and “are biologically active and that they do affect the body’s circadian rhythmicity”.
- One explanation for these positive effects can be found in a research paper called ‘The stimulatory effect of negative air ions and hydrogen peroxide on the activity of superoxide dismutase’. Scientists found that negative ions boosted concentrations of the antioxidant superoxide dismutase (SOD), one of your body’s primary defenses against oxidative stress. They concluded: “The primary physicochemical mechanism of beneficial biological action of negative air ions is suggested to be related to the stimulation of superoxide dismutase activity by micromolar concentrations of H2O2.”
